Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company

Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company uses innovation and diversity to build public appreciation of Mexican culture and advance the field of ballet folklorico in the United States.  Grandeza has become known for their contemporary approach to the art form by performing pieces developed from knowledge of the history of Mexican folk dance and appreciation of and collaboration with artists possessing diverse folklorico techniques. The company works to establish Los Angeles as a center for folklorico.

Artistic Director, Jose Vences places high expectations on his dancers and pushes them to discover their true potential.  He has danced in the world famous Ballet Folkorico de Mexico de Amalia Hernandez, which enabled him to tour throughout Europe, Mexico, Brazil and the United States.  Vences studied dance at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Universidad Autonoma de Morelos with Jesus Parra Duje and at the Compania Universitaria del Centro Cultural Morelos under the direction of Raul Rubi in Morelos, Mexico, where Vences was born.
